Valentine's Day isn't just for sweethearts - it's for the celebration of all the loves in our life, from parents and grandparents, to daughters and sons, nieces and nephews...and all the friends, neighbors and special people who touch your heart.
This Valentine’s Day, try hosting a party to celebrate all the loves in your life!
Theme
Choose themes that are fun and that might help get people talking to each other like a famous couples theme. With this theme, guests can choose to dress as whoever they like and the most interesting part for everyone will be to see who shows up in matching partner costumes. This is a fun way for your guests to be creative while also making new friends.
Decorations
Transform your party space into a room fit for Cupid by cutting out large letters from construction paper that spell out “LOVE”, “CUPID”, and “XOXO” and secure them to the walls of the party area. Cut hearts of different sizes out of red, pink and white cardstock and secure them to the walls. For a special touch, write your guests’ names on the hearts in glitter.
Food
Keep the food simple by serving traditional fare (hotdogs, hamburgers, salads, pizza) that everyone is sure to love! Consider making a fruit kabob bouquet by adding strawberries, blueberries, chunks of pineapple, and slices of banana onto skewers. Try also serving homemade heart shaped cookies with strawberry ice cream or raspberry sherbet, or strawberries dipped in white or milk chocolate. Your guests will love it all!
Party Games
Kids look forward to games and elders enjoy them too. Ideally at least two games should be planned for a Valentine's Day Party. Select some innovative games keeping in mind the age of the participants. You may plan more games if your guests are of mixed age group to ensure that everyone has a blast. Don't forget to keep token prizes for the winners.
Activities
Keep the little ones occupied while the adults are enjoying themselves by having them make valentines for their parents and loved ones. Set out construction paper, glue, glitter, heart stickers, etc., and let them get creative! Play Valentine’s Day movies for them in the background and take Fuji, Polaroid, digital or Polaroid PoGo pictures of the fun to put in your party photo album guest book.
Party Favors
You could give large favors such as a box of chocolates, a stuffed teddy bear, or movie tickets; or combine smaller favors such as Valentine's Day activity books, candy, costume jewelry, heart-shaped sunglasses, stickers in a favor box, or a personalized instant photo guest book memory album.

May Flowers
Achoo! That’s the sound of allergies kicking in when spring turns to full bloom in May. If it’s a problem you’ve lived with all your life, you’re probably well stocked with antihistamines and decongestants to get you through “I do.” It goes without saying, that your wedding day isn’t the time to be experimenting with new medication or self-prescribing how much you think you’re going to need. The combination of stress, sunlight, sweets and champagne could throw you for an unexpected loop!If your wedding is in May and you’re concerned about your allergies or the weather, follow these simple tips to avoid having an “I do” disaster!
Silk Flowers
Many May brides and bridesmaids have made the discovery that bees can’t differentiate between bridal bouquets and free-range flowers. An alternative that is gaining in popularity is the use of bouquets made of silk flowers. Not only do they provide a lasting memento of the day but will cut down on the amount of sneezing throughout the ceremony. Make your wedding memory album or personalized photo guest book unique by matching it to your flower bouquet.
Avoid Having a Midday Ceremony
The heat of pre-summer weather can bring with it drenching humidity. Morning and early evening weddings are a popular choice for brides who are dressed to the nines and want to avoid the possibility of fainting away in the midday heat. These time slots are also much kinder to hors d’oeuvres and cakes, which have a tendency to not stand up well to direct sun. Trying to keep the bugs at bay? Citronella candles and torches will add to evening ambiance and dissuade mosquitoes from inviting themselves in for a bite.

April Showers
Whether you consider rain to be a lucky sign or not, there is always a chance that it will fall on your wedding day during the spring season. After all, we need those April showers to bring May flowers. But if you are planning on getting married in April, you may not be so keen of the idea of your big day being wet and gray.
To make wet weather less of an issue, plan in advance for inclement weather by following these simple tips!
Consider Shelter
If you are planning an outdoor wedding, check for the driest times of year in your hometown. Be prepared with shelter for guests and the wedding party, or a backup location if the weather forces you to move the ceremony inside. For weddings in tents, order a floor to avoid having your reception in a mud pit and have a portion of the tent sectioned off for your wedding memory album guest book and picture taking area.
Change at the Venue
For an indoor wedding, the rain is more of an annoyance than a real problem. If there is rain in the forecast for your big day, arm yourself with plenty of golf umbrellas. The bride also may want to get dressed at the church if the weather is really nasty. The best way to handle that is to be completely ready, other than the gown. The bride should have on her special wedding jewelry and everything but her gown and shoes. Put double plastic covers over the gown to keep it dry, then slip into it once arriving at the church. If changing into your gown at the ceremony site is impractical, at least wait to put on your bridal shoes until arriving on dry land. You don't want to squish your way down the aisle in soggy footwear!
Stay Positive!
If is does end up raining on your wedding day, the best thing to do is smile and bear it. Not even a thunderstorm, though, has the power to take away the happiness of your day for you and your guests. Legend has it that the presence of rain on a bride’s wedding ensures that she will not shed any tears during her marriage.

March Nuptials
Romance is in the air and many a future brides’ thoughts will turn to spring. As lovely as the month of March can be for outdoor nuptials, it may also come with a set of problems that can turn perfection into panic. Here are some tips on how to cope with Mother Nature during the month of March.
March Winds
If the location of your wedding is an area you’ve lived in for awhile, you should be familiar by now with its weather patterns and what the odds are of a Nor’easter becoming an uninvited guest. Certainly after spending hours on a glamorous wedding “do,” the last thing that you need is a gust of strong wind to ruin it.
Have a Plan B
If you have control over the set-up for your outdoor ceremony, visit the site on a windy day prior to the actual date. This will allow you to experiment with a Plan B to reposition you and your bridal party to a more sheltered area or, if need be, move the entire thing indoors. This is a major issue that should be addressed during the planning stages if you are getting married at a resort, hotel, or other popular wedding venue.
Minimize Damage
If you have opted for a park, a seacoast, or any other natural setting that’s not part of an indoor facility, your options are a little more limited. In order to minimize damage, short hairstyles or upswept looks are generally less susceptible to the elements. Veils can also be temporarily anchored with safety pins to keep them from becoming airborne. Be sure to shelter your wedding memory album guest book and picture taking area regardless of the venue setting.
Last but not least, you need to take into account whether your wedding site is located near any rural roads, beaches or construction zones. Even a little dust kicked up by the wind can travel a long way!

Adesso Philanthropy - Part Four
In March 2007, Adesso Albums participated in two charity events – the 38th Annual NAACP Image Awards and the Night of 100 Stars official viewing party for the 79th Annual Academy Awards.
The annual NAACP Image Awards is the nation’s premier event celebrating the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice.
The Night of 100 Stars is produced by super agent Norby Walters and is the “number one Oscar party just for the sheer number of celebrities attending,” according to the Daily News. The annual event is a once in a lifetime opportunity to wine, dine, and mingle with over 200 celebrities who gather to watch the Academy Awards ceremonies together. And it was the second year in a row that Adesso Albums was asked to showcase our instant photo guest books to this group of Hollywood’s who’s who.
During the two star-studded events, the Adesso teams took Polaroid instant photos of a total of over 100 celebrities including Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, Jon Voight, Lou Gossett Jr. and Richard Dreyfuss. The photos, along with personal, handwritten messages from the stars on the pages of the Adesso Album Instant Photo Guest Books®, created several unique photo albums.
The celebrity keepsake albums were auctioned on eBay through the eBay Giving Works Program, and the proceeds were donated to Los Angeles-based Autism Speaks.
Three years later, the Adesso product line has expanded to include albums that accommodate Fuji Instax instant prints, Polaroid PoGo prints and as well as 4 x 6” prints from any number of compact photo printers, in addition to the original albums that were specifically for Polaroid instant photos.
Planning Ahead!
Planning a simple party can be a feat especially for those who just got done hosting the holiday parties of 2009 and New Years Eve. But thinking ahead and planning for your parties of 2010 will save you time, money and stress. Whether you’re planning a big event or a cozy get-together for your upcoming events, the basic steps are still the same. It's up to you to decide how simple or elaborate the details get.
Big Picture
- For upcoming holidays, special events, birthdays and baby showers, plan your themes ahead of time and decide if the party will be formal or casual. Make a budget and start saving for each party now - doing this will help you stay on budget!
- Brain storm the dates and times of all upcoming events and consider purchasing your party photo album guest books now to have them ready for each event.
- Plan out your menus now and consider recipes for vegetarian, low-fat and sugar-free options. Offer a variety of choices but go with what you know.
- If you can’t hire a bartender, arrange for a friend to handle the drinks well in advance. Plan appropriate drinks for each occasion and plan to make pitchers of cocktails instead of mixing individual drinks.
- When the party nears, send invitations two weeks ahead of time (or four weeks ahead for major holidays). Let the style and wording set the tone. Include the date, start and end times, location, appropriate attire, RSVP info or stamped return envelope (for a formal party). The more details you give, the better. Include a map.
- For entertainment, choose your tunes ahead of time and make a party mix. Choose games that are fun, easy and that can be played by all age levels. If kids are coming, keep them entertained with age appropriate games or projects.
Adesso Philanthropy - Part Three
San Francisco's Delancey Street Foundation
In January 2007, Adesso Albums celebrated its first five years in business with an invitation-only gala for 200 friends, family and business associates. It took place at San Francisco's landmark Pier 38, featured great food, drinks and a live band, and most importantly, would benefit San Francisco’s Delancey Street Foundation.
Delancey Street has provided a structured educational and living environment where men and women, most of whom are substance abusers, former felons, and others who have hit bottom, can learn the skills they need to rebuild their lives. The not for profit organization has empowered people with these issues to become their own solution since 1971.
When I moved to the South of Market area of San Francisco in 2003 I was introduced to Delancey Street Foundation's Crossroads Café (which happened to be very conveniently located n my neighborhood) I have since spent hundreds of hours there, enjoying good food, coffee and the company of the hard working and eager to get on with their lives men and women in the program, and wrote the Company's business plans, marketing materials, sales letters and newsletters. I have witnessed firsthand the heartwarming and inspirational progress of many the people who did their stint in the Café, and had been waiting for the right opportunity to show my support in a more meaningful way. This milestone event for the Company seemed very appropriate.
Guests at the spectacular Adesso Five Year Anniversary Party had the opportunity get involved in some unique party ideas as well as purchase limited edition Anniversary Adesso Albums Instant Photo Guest Books and feel good that one hundred percent of the profits would benefit San Francisco-based Delancey Street Foundation. They were also instrumental in completing the company's Polaroid Photo Guest Book 5 year birthday album which we look at often!
As a Company we'd had an amazing five years, and Delancey Street’s Crossroads Café played a big part in that success. We were delighted to have the opportunity to donate $1,000 and give back a little something as a thank you.
Check out the commercial that was created during the event to capture the creation of our unique photo albums and the fun that was had by all! I can’t wait for the 10 year party!
Fujifilm USA Takes Adesso Albums to Imaging 2010!
Imaging USA is one of the world's largest events for professional photographers and will attract more than 8,000 photographic industry specialists at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Fuji’s director of marketing, Kayce Baker, immediately saw the obvious complement Adesso Albums’ Instant Photo Guest Books bring to the Fuji Instax line. She offered to introduce the albums to the conference attendees and educate them as to how they can use them to add to their bottom line by offering them to their clients. We couldn’t be more excited to have Fuji for such an enthusiastic and involved partner in this market!
Adesso Philanthropy - Part Two
American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament
In July 2006, Adesso Albums teed off along with more than 78 of the biggest sports and entertainment stars including Michael Jordan, Donald Trump, Charles Barkley, Johnny Bench, John Elway, Mike Schmidt and Jack Wagner at the 17th Annual American Century Celebrity Golf Championship. Our unique photo albums were included in the gift bags for the event and featured in the three day Product Showcase in North Shore Lake Tahoe.
The celebrity players not only saw our unique party idea product displayed, but got "hands-on" experience creating a Polaroid Photo Guest Book. We filled several Adesso Albums with photos and autographs of the celebrity players. We were hopeful that the celebrity players will find a similar application for the Adesso Album they receive in their locker, board or green rooms! The memory albums were auctioned off to benefit the official charity for the tournament, Autism Speaks.
On the third day of the event, it was rumored that Donald Trump would (finally) be coming through the product showcase and I was bound and determined to meet the man. After all, I'd been there three whole days, met all sorts of sports celebrities - even the former Vice President, Dan Quayle (little guy, didn't "get" the Adesso Album concept so much) - and I was NOT going home without the Donald in our album!
Thing was, he was obligated to come through the room, so I knew he'd be there, and sure enough, he eventually appeared - mad as hell because he'd played poorly throughout the tournament - and he let everyone know! See how happy he was to participate in the creation of the albums that would benefit the Autism Charity that he was supposedly playing for?
As he walked away from our table, I realized he hadn't autographed the album where his photo had been inserted. Against the advice of his "handler", I followed him with the album and a pen in hand, and asked him to please sign on his page. He did, but he was not happy about being bothered again as he was on the home stretch out of the room and onto his private jet back home.
But I wasn't quite finished. I had waited three days, wasn't aware that someone had snapped the picture you see above and now it was a matter of principle. I was going to get a picture with him! I asked the event photographer, "If I can get in position, will you take the picture?" He agreed and as Mr. Trump was leaving the room, I tapped him on the shoulder and said, "Not so fast, Mr. Trump, you owe me one last picture." And this is what I got - doesn't he look just tickled?
Adesso Philanthropy - Part One
Night of 100 Stars - 2006
Over the years, Adesso Albums has been involved in donating to a variety of charitable organizations. It’s been a nice way for us to share our good fortune with others, and I thought it might be something you might be interested in hearing about!
We wanted to make sure that the celebrities had an opportunity to experience the product, but we needed an angle to engage them in the process. A week before the event, we learned that Ellen DeGeneres had created a fund for Hurricane Katrina victims and we knew exactly what to do – we’d create a personalized photo album for Ellen filled with Polaroid instant photos of the celebrities along with their handwritten well wishes, auction the albums on eBay and donate the proceeds to the fund.
To get the celebs attention, we created a cut out of Ellen’s head, put it on a stick, and offered it as a prop for the celebrities to use in their photo. It was our hope that the one-of-a-kind albums would fetch a handsome sum when they’re auctioned off on eBay. OK, and maybe it did cross our mind that maybe, just maybe we’d get on the Ellen show for our efforts as well!
Getting to meet some of the celebrities we grew up watching on television, on stage and in the theatre as well as so many that we’ve enjoyed as adults was a real treat, but witnessing their enthusiasm and willingness to participate in the creation of these albums to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina was something I’ve never forgotten.
You can see photos of the albums and the oh-so-fun event on the website.
Oh, and as a postscript, we’re not really sure what happened to the albums. We made a tactical error, and sent them to the Ellen Show – not a specific person, just the show, and assumed that someone would see the value in them and take the appropriate action. Not so much. Lesson learned. Note to self: Do not repeat.

Holiday Game Ideas!
Spice up your holiday party with these fun and festive games. Having a few games and activities on hand will ensure that there's never a dull moment. Holiday party games are also a great way to encourage your guests to mingle.
White Elephant
If you're planning a gift exchange at your party, you can easily turn the event into a game. A white elephant exchange begins with each guest bringing a "white elephant" gift - a gift that is pointless, kitschy, or otherwise undesirable. Everyone who has brought a gift then draws a number to determine the selection order. When it is your turn, you may unwrap a gift from the pile, or take a present another person has already opened.
Blindfold Gift Wrap
This holiday party game involves you blindfolding two volunteers and having them stand at a table with a number of small, unwrapped presents, sticky tape and ribbon. They have to wrap, tape and tie with ribbon two or three presents blindfolded. The neatest wrapper wins. You could also divide the guests into two groups and have them all have a go.
Clumsy fingers
Divide your party guests into two teams. Have two pairs of large rubber gloves or large men's gloves. Put plenty of wrapped sweets into two paper bags. The first person in each line has to put the gloves on, take a sweet from the bag, unwrap it and put it in their mouth. If they drop the sweet on the floor they have to start again. They then have to take off the gloves, and pass them to next person on the team. The team that finishes first wins the prize!
Be sure to have a holiday party photo album guest book around, along with your Polaroid PoGo, Fuji or digital camera so you can capture all of the fun!

Holiday Party Ideas
Holiday entertaining begins with great ideas and party themes for all age groups including kids and adults. This Christmas, gather 'round your friends and family members and enjoy their company by hosting any of following fun holiday party theme ideas.
Picture Party
There are home parties for just about anything these days and now is your chance to host a party that is truly unique! Invite friends and family members to your home for a special photo session using your digital, Polaroid or Fuji Instax camera and encourage your guests to bring their cameras as well. Serve refreshments, play music, and capture all of the fun! When the party is over, add the photos to your party photo album guest book.
Open House Party
Hosting an open house for the entire family may cut down on costs and time. If adults and children will both attend the party, make sure to have a few fun and easy activities for everyone to enjoy.
Cocktail Party
A full course meal is not necessary for a cocktail party. Simple foods, such as hors d'oeuvres and other finger foods, allow guests to graze throughout the event. Plan on serving cocoa and cookies, as well as alcoholic beverages. Alcohol can get expensive, so plan on serving a limited drink menu with a few signature drinks.

Quality of Polaroid Film
Polaroid - Instant, Fun and Archival
You're not going to get a professional grade photo with a Polaroid picture - but that's not the point. With Polaroid film, you're going to get an instant photo that is fun and that you get to take with you as soon as the event is over. There are instances of Polaroid photos that were taken in the 1960's that are still around and in good shape today. As long as they aren't exposed to extreme heat or cold, the life of the photos can be 50 or more years.
Fujifilm - An Instant Alternative
For a better quality instant film option, try Fuji's Instax 200 Instant Color Print Film. The glossy-finish film prints ultra sharp for an 800 speed film making it extremely effective in low light scenarios. It is also enhanced to maintain its stability over the years making it a good choice for archival storage.
Fujifilm can be used with our Fuji memory album guest book and with Fuji's Instax 200 Camera. Like Polaroid, the Fuji Instax camera takes a picture and prints it instantly for developing - leaving you with an instant memento!

Kayla's Birthday Party!
So you’ve got a child who’s having a birthday, and you’re trying to come up with a unique party idea and activity that will keep the youngest of party goers entertained AND become a wonderful keepsake for you and your child now and in the future? Well Adesso customer Roz Garrido has a GREAT idea for you - use an Adesso Album!
Roz recently used an Adesso Album at her daughter Kayla’s 2nd birthday party and had this to say about it:
“The kids had a great time doing their own coloring/drawings on their pages and they absolutely loved seeing the instant pictures come out of the camera and develop right there in front of their eyes while they were decorating their page!”
The parents in attendance can also participate and express their well wishes right alongside their kids’ scribbles and drawings, creating a wonderful multi-generational birthday party photo album memento to be enjoyed for years to come!
Thanks to Roz for sharing Kayla's birthday with us!

Get Inspired with "Scrappy Startups"
It’s actually surreal. Melanie Keveles, a career and life coach who I met for the first time last year, has devoted an entire chapter in her brand new book, “Scrappy Start Ups – How 15 Ordinary Women Turned Their Unique Ideas into Profitable Businesses” to how Adesso Albums went from a unique wedding photo album and guest book idea to a full blown company.
The book contains stories about a total of fifteen women who started a wide range of companies and Melanie has divided them into three categories – Dream, Courage and Action. For those of you who know the Adesso Albums story, it is exactly where you’d expect to find it – in the Action category.
Melanie found the women she profiled in her book through three essential means: referrals from friends and associates, women she had been tracking, and a Web search. The women she was looking for had to meet three criteria: they had to be doing fun, meaningful and profitable businesses.
Scrappy Startups is available on Amazon, but if you go to Melanie's site, you can get a free coaching session in addition to the book! I’ve read some of the stories – and they’ve filled my tank for my newest venture – Bottoms Up – where we’re selling a unique, eco-friendly, all-in-one cloth baby wipe kit.
So if you've got an idea for a business or a product and need a little "push" to get started, put "Scrappy Startups" on your Christmas list - you won't be sorry!

Thanksgiving Games for Everyone!
Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow and by now you likely have your menu and decorations planned out. If the only thing missing from your perfectly planned Thanksgiving Day is entertainment for your guests, consider entertaining them with the following games!
Popcorn Relay Race
This game can be a bit messy, but it's well worth it to see relatives young and old playing together! Set bowls filled with popcorn at one side of a room and then empty bowls at the opposite side. Teams must transport the popcorn from the full bowl, to the empty, using a measuring cup. The first team to empty their popcorn bowl, wins the game!
Pumpkin Race
This traditional county fair game can be played in a yard, garage, or even inside! For the game, you’ll need two large pumpkins and two sturdy sticks. The racers, line up on the starting line with the pumpkins turned on their sides. On the signal, the racers use their sticks to roll the pumpkins to the finish line. Younger players may want to use their hands instead of the stick. If you want to play this as teams, make it a relay race.
A Game of Thanks
Finally, for an activity that encourages everyone to express gratitude, choose an item - such as an unlit candle or small pumpkin - that can be passed from person to person. When someone is holding the item, they have to say one thing they are thankful for.
While the games are in play, take pictures of all the fun and add them to your memory album, or your party photo album guest book to reflect on later.
